Find Charging Stations
Right now awareness about electric car is increasing in the country. The government and private companies are continuously working to increase the electric charging station, but it is still a challenging task. There are far fewer charging stations in the country than fuel stations, while the sale of electric vehicles has seen a significant increase over the past year.
Charging Time
Fueling up conventional cars often takes relatively little time. If there is no long queue, petrol or diesel gets filled in 2 to 3 minutes. However, the process of charging an electric vehicle takes a long time. Now vehicles with advanced technology have come which have fast charging options. In 40 minutes, the freshly introduced Volvo can charge up to 80 percent. But in comparison, it still takes 40 minutes in an electric car as compared to petrol-diesel.
Expensive Battery Pack
The most expensive component of an electric vehicle is the battery pack. Recently, when a Tata Nexon EV customer approached a Tata showroom to get the battery pack replaced, he was told that the new battery pack costs more than Rs 7 lakh. The battery of the owner of the car got damaged in 68 thousand km only. The cost of the battery pack is also a problem, at this price you can buy a conventional fuel car.
Car Range
In a petrol car, you can travel up to 400-500 km in a single full fuel tank. While the budget electric car that has come so far has a range problem. Tata advertises a 400 km range for the Nexon EV, but in practise, this range is insufficient. Before going on a long journey, you have to think about the electric car.
E-Waste and Pollution will Increase
It is asserted that the adoption of electric vehicles will reduce air pollution, but this is not the case. The electric car does not directly emit carbon, but the battery releases harmful gases into the atmosphere. There is no system to completely recycle these batteries, the more electric cars are bought, the more the battery will grow on the earth in the form of e-waste.
